OnChip AI

OnChip AI is a private chat assistant for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is developed by David Kramer and published by DAK Innovations (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information when you use OnChip AI.

The short version: OnChip AI was built so that your conversations never leave your device. We designed the app so that we have nothing to collect, store, or share.

OnChip AI uses Apple’s Foundation Models framework to run the large language model that is built into Apple Intelligence directly on your device’s chip. A large language model is an AI system trained to understand and generate text in response to what you type.

• Every prompt you send and every reply you receive is processed locally by the on-device model.
• OnChip AI does not send your messages to Siri, to ChatGPT, or to any other cloud AI service.
• Because everything runs on your device, the app does not need an internet connection to chat. It works the same in airplane mode, on a flight, underground, or anywhere else without Wi-Fi or cellular service. The model itself is provided and updated by Apple as part of the operating system.
• Apple Intelligence must be turned on in Settings (or System Settings on Mac) for the app to work.

OnChip AI requires iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 or later, and a device that supports Apple Intelligence. Apple’s Foundation Models framework runs on two tiers of hardware.

Device support is determined by Apple and may change with future software updates.

None. DAK Innovations does not collect, receive, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Your prompts, messages, or conversations
• AI-generated replies
• Chat titles, search terms, or other app content
• Usage patterns, analytics, or telemetry
• Crash reports or diagnostic logs
• Device identifiers, location, or contacts
• Names, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information

OnChip AI contains no analytics tools, advertising networks, tracking pixels, or third-party SDKs, and it does not require you to create an account.

Because we don’t collect any information about you, we don’t use, sell, rent, or share it with anyone. There is no user data for us to analyze, profile, or hand over to advertisers or other third parties.

So that you can return to earlier conversations and ask follow-up questions, OnChip AI saves your chat history locally inside the app’s private storage on your device.

• Chats are stored on this device only. They are not uploaded to our servers and are not synced through iCloud or any other service.
• You can delete an individual chat at any time (right-click or long-press a chat and choose Delete).
• Deleting the app removes all of its locally stored chats.
• Your chats are protected by your device’s built-in security, such as your passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and Apple’s data protection. Keeping your device updated and locked helps keep them safe.

Your device’s own backups (for example, an iCloud or computer backup you have enabled) may include app data under Apple’s policies. We have no access to those backups.

OnChip AI is distributed through the Apple App Store and relies on Apple Intelligence. Apple may collect information such as download statistics, purchase records, or crash reports you choose to share with developers, in line with Apple’s own privacy policy and the settings on your device. DAK Innovations does not control that collection.

Any purchases related to the app are processed entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment details.

The language model in OnChip AI is created and maintained by Apple. We did not create or train it and do not modify it. Please keep the following in mind:

• Replies can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or reflect biases present in the model’s training data.
• The on-device model can only remember so much of a conversation. For very long chats, starting a new chat gives the best results.
• Always double-check anything important. OnChip AI is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or other expert advice.
• You are responsible for how you use the content the app generates.

By using OnChip AI, you agree not to use it to:

• Create content that breaks any applicable law
• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against others
• Deceive, defraud, or impersonate anyone
• Cause harm to yourself or others

You are also responsible for following Apple’s acceptable use requirements for Apple Intelligence.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OnChip AI is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. DAK Innovations and David Kramer are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or from any content generated by the on-device model.

OnChip AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no personal information, no data about children is ever sent to us.

Privacy laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada’s PIPEDA, and Australia’s Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data.

Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete. All of your information stays under your control on your own device, where you can delete chats or the app at any time.

If you email us for support or with a question, we receive only what you choose to include in that email, such as your email address and message. We use it solely to reply to you and do not add you to any mailing list. No information is sent from the app automatically.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the app gains new features. When we do, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app or its App Store release notes. Continuing to use OnChip AI after an update means you accept the revised policy.
